The French sociologist Bruno Marzloff will be the key note speaker for the opening session of the UITP World Congress to take place in Vienna on Monday 8 June.
Bruno Marzloff is a French sociologist whose work focuses on mobility at large going far beyond the question of individual journeys. He reflects on the relationship between new communications technologies, particularly the Internet, and modern mobility.
He founded the Chronos group in 1998. This platform gathers actors of the transport, intelligence and the media sector as well as public authorities. This research firm identifies new mobility trends and emerging needs of daily travellers and helps mobility operators to develop new services to fulfil these needs through a whole range of consulting services.
Bruno Marzloff is an active member of the most relevant French scientific committees involved in the development of land planning and the Internet and teaches at the Sorbonne University. Bruno Marzloff is the author of number of publications including ‘A more sustainable and free mobility’ (Une mobilité plus libre et plus durable with Daniel Kaplan); ‘The fifth screen’ (Le 5ème écran) and ‘Mobility fluid tracks’ (Mobilité trajectoires fluides).
Mr Marzloff keynote speech will address the issue: ‘What mobility options for City 2.0?’ covering topics such as the new public-private mobility options that are emerging in a context of structural crisis, the role that IT will play in this new mobility and the solutions to the traditional dichotomy between private cars and public transport.
The opening session will be followed by a VIP tour of the exhibition. Press delegates are invited to join this tour. The opening press conference will take place at 13:00 at the press centre located on the ground floor next to Hall C.
