(Brussels, 16 June 2017) FoodDrinkEurope welcomes today's adoption by EU health ministers of the (EPSCO) Council conclusions to contribute towards halting the rise in childhood overweight and obesity.
FoodDrinkEurope strongly supports the Council Conclusions' recognition of the value of co-operation and partnership between the different stakeholders, which is in line with our recently launched Call for Action “Together for More Balanced Diets”. We call on the Ministers of Health to support and work closely with the food and drink sector and other stakeholders to help European consumers have more balanced diets.
Europe's food and drink manufacturing industry acknowledges its important role and responsibility in promoting more balanced diets and healthy lifestyles and reiterates its support and commitment toward developing and implementing, in cooperation with all the stakeholders involved, valuable and effective initiatives aimed at enabling children and their families to adopt healthier lifestyles (see http://www.eatandlivewell.eu/).
