Brussels, 1 July 2021 – European Aluminium, the single voice of the entire aluminium value chain, announced that Ingrid Jörg, President Aerospace and Transportation at Constellium, has been appointed as Chair of the association starting on 1 July. European Aluminium represents more than 85 members with over 600 plants in 30 European countries, covering primary and secondary production as well as semi-fabrication.

Ingrid Jörg will take over from Emilio Braghi, Senior Vice President and President at Novelis Europe, who chaired the association from January 2019 to June 2021. Mr. Braghi served an extended term to support the planned transition to a new Chair during the COVID-19 crisis.

Commenting on her election, Ingrid Jörg says:

“I feel privileged to be elected Chair of European Aluminium, an organisation that strives to have a positive impact on the development of the entire aluminium industry in Europe and optimise our metal’s contribution to meeting Europe’s sustainability challenges. Now that we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of the association’s work on behalf of its members can’t be overstated. As a material with permanent properties, aluminium will be critical for Europe’s recovery and transition to a low-carbon and circular economy. During my chairship, I will continue to push for a more ambitious sustainability approach and the necessary framework conditions for our industry to recover and grow.”

Ingrid Jörg is President of Constellium’s Aerospace and Transportation business unit since June 2015, overseeing five facilities in France, Switzerland and the United States for several markets, including commercial aviation, space, transportation, industry and defense. Previously, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Aleris Rolled Products Europe. During her more than 20 years in the aluminium industry, she also held leadership positions with Alcoa and AMAG Austria.

European Aluminium’s team and members express their appreciation for Mr. Braghi’s dedication and strategic leadership during a challenging period:

“Under Emilio’s chairship, European Aluminium secured favorable outcomes for aluminium in the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme, launched its Circular Aluminium Action Plan to boost recycling and instigated two successful anti- dumping investigations into Chinese aluminium products. Even at the height of the pandemic, Emilio was always available to provide timely guidance based on his deep industry knowledge. He leaves behind a tremendous legacy but we are confident Ingrid will hit the ground running and build on the progress we’ve made over the last few years,” comments Gerd Götz, Director General of European Aluminium.

Emilio Braghi will continue advising the association as a Member of European Aluminium’s Executive Committee.
