COSMOCRACY: EURACTIV brings European political parties and the major multilateral players (EU, African Union, ASEAN, MERCOSUR and the UN) at the same table to discuss the future of global governance
Looking at Brexit negotiations, the current trade wars, the climate issues, and cyber-attacks increasing worldwide, multilateralism is struggling to provide global solutions to global problems. This is alarming. What is the missing piece? In its 20 years of expertise, EURACTIV has been leading discussions on European issues. We want to take this to the next level, by triggering a new debate.
“How (geo)strategic will the Von Der Leyen’s Commission actually be? Can the European Political Parties, play a role in influencing the evolution of global governance? What will be the role and reactions of the EU, African Union, ASEAN and other multilateral actors?”, said Dan Luca, Head of EURACTIV Business.
The European political parties can play a role in strengthening international rule-making. “Through their extensive global affiliations and networks, they could give a new impetus to international norm-making, by applying their European experience to worldwide challenges’’, stated Lucrezia Scarapicchia, Public Affairs Manager at EURACTIV.
On the 5th of March, we will be triggering this conversation with major European political party and multilateral institutions representatives. The debate will first hear from EPP, PES, Green Party, ALDE and European Left representatives, and then turn to reactions from the African Union, ASEAN, MERCOSUR, UN and the EEAS.
