ERF appoints new president
Jacobo Díaz Pineda has been appointed as the new president of the European Union Road Federation (ERF). The election – which took place in Lisbon on May 25 within the framework of the 16th IRF World Meeting – also saw the renewal of Rik Nuyttens (3M) as a vice president and the appointment of Antonio Pinelo (CRP) as a second vice president.
The ERF is a non-profit association, which coordinates the views of the road infrastructure sector in Europe and acts as a platform for dialogue and research on mobility issues.
Díaz Pineda has been the director general of the Spanish Road Association (AEC) since September 2006. As a civil engineer, he began his professional career within the AEC more than 15 years ago, adopting the role of technical director before becoming deputy director general in 2001. He is also president of the Ibero-American Road Institute (IVIA) – an organization that aims to establish a cooperation network between all Ibero-American countries on technical and professional matters linked to road and transport infrastructure.
As president of the ERF, Jacobo Díaz Pineda will make road safety and sustainability the two main lines of action during his tenure. Additionally, he will aim to strengthen the international dimension of the European road sector through the sharing of practices between the EU and other countries.
