CEEP welcomes the twelve proposals of the European Commission in the Single Market Act communication aimed at enabling a stronger Single Market to the benefit of businesses, citizens and consumers.
CEEP, representing public employers and services of general interest providers in the EU, shares the opinion of the Commission that “market forces alone cannot provide an adequate response to all collective needs.” CEEP further agrees that services of general interest should be provided in a way that meets users’ needs as far as possible, in accordance with the subsidiarity principle. Therefore, CEEP will continue to collaborate with the Commission on the revision of State aid rules and the announced measures for a suitable framework for SGEIs.
CEEP welcomes the Commission proposal to increase the involvement of the social partners in developing the single market. As a European social partner, CEEP will be glad to present its position also on issues relating to economic and social cohesion.
