Capitalism does not stop for national foreclosure policy

Regarding the outcome of the Parliamentary Election in Hungary, Gregor Gysi, President of the European Left, declares:

With the re-election of Viktor Orbán and his right-wing national Fidesz party with 48.5% of the vote and according to a rather strange suffrage, the party reached 134 seats in a 199-seat parliament and thus a constitutional two-thirds majority. The confrontational course of his current eight-year term will continue, consisting of foreclosure policy, the restriction of media freedom and civil rights, as well as the alleged misuse of EU funds and the erosion of the rule of law.

By staging as an EU-critical populist and focusing on immigration, he has won the majority of the Hungarian population. We stand by the side of those who in turn propose to the people concrete steps to make the world a fairer and juster place by uniting people. The left has a special role in Europe: it has to be the political opposite of the right-wing shift development. For this, we need the courage to really engage. Especially in the post-Soviet countries, the feeling of being the losers of history and of being second-class people is particularly pronounced. As a result, some are looking for third-class people. It's understandable that you do not want to be at the bottom, but being against the poorest people in society is still wrong.
