The India Bromine Platform (IBP) that was conceptualized in 2018 in order to foster the bromine ecosystem in India, became an affiliate member of BSEF – The International Bromine Council.
IBP is composed of bromine producers and suppliers in India. Its members include BSEF members LANXESS and ICL, as well as leading names in India’s chemicals industry like Tata Chemicals, Agrocel Industries, Solaris Chemtech, Archean and Satyesh Brinechem. The Indian Chemical Council (ICC), India’s leading chemical industry body, plays the role of a catalyst and host to enhance collaboration of various stakeholders in this effort.
“It´s a great pleasure to welcome the India Bromine Platform as part of the BSEF family” said Dr. Kevin Bradley, BSEF Secretary General, and added “We are looking forward to continued and successful collaboration with IBP and the building of solid and lasting co-operation on key priorities for the Indian Bromine market”.
Namitesh Roychoudhary, VP – PTSE and Capital Investments, LANXESS India and Chairperson of IBP said, “We look forward to working with BSEF in order to establish a strong foundation for the bromine landscape in India and to further develop various initiatives to foster growth in India’s bromine industry.”
The IBP that has held a series of physical meetings to brainstorm initiatives and has set up a dedicated safety working group to promote best practices for safe handling of bromine, organized their first virtual meeting on November 6th, 2020 in line with prevailing conditions during the pandemic. The aim of this meeting was to discuss the milestones achieved by the group and set a roadmap for the next year considering the recent developments and the dynamic nature of the industry.
The IBP will continue working with the Indian bromine and chemical industry in order to assess the current Indian policy scenario and to reinforce the importance of bromine based technologies in society.
