“2018: consumer choice, economy and citizenship are centre stage”, Phillip Malloch takes up ETNO chairmanship and Swisscom joins the Executive Board

Brussels, 4 January 2018   –   ETNO, the Association representing Europe’s leading providers of digital networks and services, is pleased to announce that Phillip Malloch from Telia Company has taken up ETNO’s Chairmanship as from January 1st, 2018. Following his election by the General Assembly in October 2017, Mr. Malloch succeeds Steven Tas from Proximus, who served for the past three years.
 
ETNO Chairman Phillip Malloch said: “Boost  consumer  choice,  grow  the  economy  and foster a digitally-enabled  citizenship. As this ambition drives our approach to digital rulemaking, ETNO will continue to strive for innovation-friendly, user-centric and investment-conducive legislation. We will make a point of bringing the voice of our customers and of our investors to the policy debate. The Electronic Communications Code and the ePrivacy Regulation need to improve the current situation and bring concrete benefits in terms of increased investment certainty and expanded consumer choice”. 
 
Profile of Phillip Malloch
Phillip Malloch is Vice President at Telia Company, which he joined in 2007. Phillip currently heads Telia Company’s Group Public Affairs. He joined ETNO’s Executive Board in 2012 and he was a member of the GSMA’s Chief Regulatory Officers’ Group from 2013 - 2017.    
 
Swisscom joins the Executive Board  
On January 1st, Swisscom Group also joined the Executive Board. The role of the Executive Board is to provide strategic guidance and input on the main internal and external activities of the Association. Swisscom operates in Switzerland, where it is the Country’s leading telecoms company, and in Italy, but it also has a  venture capital arm in the Silicon Valley. Swisscom’s representative in the Executive Board is Thomas Müller, Senior Advisor Corporate Affairs.
