The first joint cyber security exercise between the European Union (EU) and United States (US) is being held today (3rd  Nov.) in Brussels, with the support of the EU’s Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) and the US Department of Homeland Security. The day-long table-top exercise, Cyber Atlantic 2011, is using simulated cyber-crisis scenarios to explore how the EU and US would engage each other and cooperate in the event of cyber-attacks on their critical information infrastructures. 

Commenting on the decision by Greek prime minister Papandreou to hold a referendum on the implementation of the terms of the latest Greek bail out, Greens/EFA co-presidents Rebecca Harms and Daniel Cohn-Bendit said:

Housing-related expenditure has increased considerably in Europe over the last decade and now represents the highest share of consumer spending at EU level, says the latest research published by RICS.

Oliver Bell (Hydro) elected as new President of Eurometaux – the European Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association

During its General Assembly held in Brussels on 27 October 2011, Eurometaux elected Oliver Bell as its new President.

The European Commission proposal, published today, to revise the 4th and 7th Directives on accounting by the European Union’s 7.5 million companies represents the first major revision of this legislation in over 30 years.
