GUE/NGL condemns Commission's 2014 Budget proposal

The GUE/NGL Group expresses its disappointment that the Commission has put forward a proposal for the EU's 2014 budget based on the 7/8 February Council conclusions, ignoring both its own proposal and the European Parliament's 13 March Resolution on the matter, which was supported by over 500 MEPs.

Eurofound launches its flagship annual working time update 2012 report: Differences in working time remain large across Europe

(Dublin, Ireland): The average collectively agreed weekly working time in the European Union, including Croatia, stood at 38.1 hours in 2012, the same as for the EU27 in 2011, according to Eurofound’s latest annual working time update. The working week was on average 30 minutes shorter in the pre-2004 EU15 countries and over 1 hour and 30 minutes longer in the new Member States. The new report provides a snapshot of working time developments in the European Union and Norway in 2012 as agreed between the social partners by collective agreements.

Edward Snowden must be defended, not criminalised

Brussels 26 June 2013 – In view of the vote in the plenary in Strasbourg next week, the IRU urges MEPs to fully support a roadmap to harmonise national rules on periodic roadworthiness testing and technical roadside checks in the future.
