Brussels, 19 September 2012 – The European Photovoltaic Industry Association is hosting several important activities at the 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (27th EU PVSEC), which takes place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany from 24-28 September. The events assess the state of solar PV industry at a crucial time, as the technology becomes more mature and mainstream.
“Connecting the Sun:
Solar photovoltaics on the road to large-scale grid integration”
EPIA’s new report, “Connecting the Sun: Solar photovoltaics on the road to large-scale grid integration” will be released on 25 September during the 9th European PV Industry Summit. The increasing role played by PV in Europe’s electricity system presents challenges for grid operators. However, as this new report shows, PV is already providing solutions – meeting a growing share of electricity demand at increasingly competitive cost without creating undue strain on the power system. The report will be available on 25 September and can be downloaded at that time by clicking here.
9th European PV Industry Summit
Hall 4.0, Room Europa, Frankfurt Messe
EPIA’s headline event during the week is the 9th European PV Industry Summit, entitled “Mainstream and maturing: Challenges and opportunities for the PV industry as it moves towards high penetration”. High-level representatives from the PV industry, along with policy-makers and actors from the entire electricity value chain, will scan the prospects of PV for the coming years. The Summit, which will be held on Tuesday 25 September 2012 from 13.30-18.00, will also present the main conclusions of EPIA’s new report, “Connecting the Sun: Solar photovoltaics on the road to large-scale grid integration”. EPIA’s second annual Investors Day takes place on Wednesday 26 September from 10.00-18.00. Entitled, “Risk mitigation in PV investments: The key to sustainable market development?” The event will bring leaders together in an interactive forum featuring CEO-level speakers from the PV industry as well as representatives from banks, investment funds, insurance companies and analysts addressing key questions in the search for innovative financial solutions: Which investments need to be made in manufacturing? How can the availability of affordable capital for projects – from large-scale plants development to retail projects – be ensured in a competitive environment? Click here for programme details.
