KELLEN EUROPE AND ASAE HOST EUROPE TODAY CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

November 12, 2010 (BRUSSELS, BE) – Kellen Europe, a division of global association management firm Kellen Company, today hosted the Europe Today conference in conjunction with ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership, at the ASAE headquarters in Washington, DC. The conference provided U.S. association leaders with the latest information on the political changes taking place at the European Union level and the implications these changes will have for U.S. associations doing business in and with Europe.
Speakers included Maria Teresa Scardigli, vice president, Kellen Europe, and Seppo Nurmi, counselor, deputy head of trade section, Delegation of the European Commission. Over 60 association executives from across the United States participated in the conference which addressed issues, including the first year of operations of the new European Parliament, the new College of Commissioners, and the European Council’s newly adopted Europe 2020: Strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, a framework for implementing new initiatives and policies to advance the EU’s growth potential.
“Knowing what the European Union looks like and understanding what are the priorities of the European Union at the political and legislative levels are critical for any interest group,” said Scardigli. “This Europe Today Update session enables our association colleagues in the U.S. to understand the EU better and will help them to anticipate more easily to the challenges and opportunities that are ahead of us on a global scale,” she added.
