CPME salutes the European Parliament for recognizing the health impact of Climate change

On 25 November 2009, in its plenary vote on the Resolution on Climate Change, the European Parliament recognised the need to consider public health, as well as the co-benefits of emission reductions to global health.
CPME and a group of health advocacy organisations[1] joined forces to call attention on the urgency to include health more centrally in climate negotiations. They addressed together the Members of the European Parliament in a letter to encourage them to support health-friendly amendments. Two amendments tabled by the ALDE Group, and one amendment tabled by Greens/EFA were accepted.
CPME congratulates the European Parliament for its vote and calls all the interested parties to bring health to the centre of climate change towards Copenhagen and beyond. What is good for climate, is good for health.
