The President and the Secretary General of the European People’s Party (EPP), Wilfried Martens and Antonio Lopez-Isturiz, today congratulated the newly elected Presidency of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, led by the re-elected Chairman, Joseph Daul, and his ten Vice-Presidents.

“As the largest political Group after the resounding victory on 7 June, the EPP has the enormous responsibility of leading the European Parliament with strong political actions, so that we deal effectively with the challenges facing European societies, in view of the current economic crisis”, they stated.

“We are convinced that the new Presidency of the EPP Group will fulfill its tasks with great success. Needless to say, the Party will offer its full political support to the work of the Group Presidency”, Martens and Lopez-Isturiz added.
