
The 2008 Review of EU Telecoms Rules: An opportunity for next generation broadband networks

Brussels – With one million fibre-to-the-home subscribers compared to almost three in the US and
eleven in Asia, Europe needs a clear strategy to catch up in the deployment of next generation access
networks. Necessary investments to upgrade broadband networks across the EU are estimated to cost
up to 300 billion €.
