4evergreen, the cross-industry alliance perfecting the circularity of fibre-based packaging from across the entry value chain, announces its 6th Annual Conference in Brussels on November 19th.
As momentum builds around the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and the broader ambitions of the EU’s Circular Economy Act, the 4evergreen alliance is bringing the fibre-based packaging sector together for its highly anticipated Annual Conference - a flagship event showcasing how collective ambitions is paving the way for circularity.
At the heart of this year’s agenda is the 4evergreen Technical Toolbox - a holistic, evidence-based resource created to support the design and evaluation of fibre-based packaging to reach the recycling target of 90% by 2030. While closely aligned with regulatory frameworks like the PPWR, the Toolbox goes further: offering packaging professionals a practical, evidence-based guide to optimised design for recycling, material efficiency and harmonised evaluation of recycling tests.
Designed for packaging technologists, sustainability leads, and value chain stakeholders, the conference will offer deep-dive sessions and interactive workshops to explore the Toolbox’s applications and technical pillars. Attendees will engage directly with the cross-sector experts that have shaped the Toolbox's deliverables and gain hands-on insights into how it supports both compliance and innovation.
Highlights of the event include:
- Keynotes from industry leaders and EU policymakers
- Panel discussions tackling real-world circularity challenges
- Interactive breakout sessions to explore technical tools
- Networking opportunities with peers and innovators across the value chain
The conference will also shine a spotlight on industry leadership through the 3rd Annual Circularity Success Stories Awards. These awards celebrate transformative fibre-based packaging solutions - both individual and collaborative - developed by 4evergreen members, partners and, for the first time, also by external organisations. Winners will be announced during a dedicated ceremony, showcasing high-impact projects that demonstrate what successful circular fibre-based packaging can look like in practice.
“The 4evergreen alliance is truly unique in our sector, bringing together members of the whole value chain to pool their resources, insights and expertise to make our Technical Toolbox a reality. As we all work towards achieving 4evergreen’s goal of a 90% recycling rate by 2030, the Circular Success Stories demonstrate the progress that is already being made in developing innovative, circular solutions for fibre-based packaging today,” says Susan Brunner, co-chair of the 4evergreen alliance and Head of Product Sustainability and Positioning at Mondi Group.
“By bringing together technical know-how from across the value chain, we’re empowering the packaging industry to design for true circularity, not just recyclability. This conference is a unique opportunity to see that collaboration in action” states Tytti Peltonen, co-chair of the alliance and Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Metsä Group.
About 4evergreen
4evergreen is a cross-industry alliance perfecting the circularity of fibre-based packaging to contribute to a climate-neutral and sustainable society. Our goal is to raise the overall recycling rate of fibre-based packaging to 90% by 2030. We bring a particular focus on packaging with a lower circularity performance today, namely the types used for household, out-of-home and on-the-go consumption. The alliance brings together over 110 industry leaders from across the fibre-based packaging value-chain, from pulp, paper and board manufacturers and recyclers to packaging producers and converters, including food and drink brand owners, retailers, and waste management companies. It also comprises non-fibre material suppliers (e.g., adhesives, inks, coatings), technology providers (e.g., machinery, collection, and recycling solutions), and leading research institutes.
Together they share expertise in developing tools and guidelines for an even more sustainable sector. Their goal is to reach a 90% recycling rate for fibre-based packaging by 2030. Overall, our members employ 4.9 million people all over the world, with a consolidated annual turnover of over 2.4 trillion euros. All our members have set ambitious targets, clearly showcasing their commitment to addressing the most pressing global challenges.
The host of the initiative is Cepi, the Confederation of European Paper Industries, headquartered in Brussels.
