Brussels, 6 February 2025 - EuropaBio is happy to announce that NIBRT, the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research & Training has joined its membership.
Opened in 2011, NIBRT is a world-class institute based in Dublin, Ireland whose mission is to deliver training and research solutions for the global biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. NIBRT’s state-of-the-art pilot-scale biopharma manufacturing facilities enable close industry partnerships, supporting international best practices in biologics manufacturing, training, and research.
NIBRT joins EuropaBio at a pivotal time, bringing significant expertise in biomanufacturing, cutting-edge technologies, and sustainable biopharmaceutical production. A key part of this expertise is CONCEPT, NIBRT’s Core Facility for Early-Stage Biotherapy Development. CONCEPT provides an advanced research environment encompassing specialised infrastructure and expertise to support early-stage process development, high-throughput screening, and characterisation of novel therapeutics. Through CONCEPT, NIBRT is enabling innovation in cell and gene therapy, protein-based biopharmaceuticals, and emerging biotherapeutic modalities.
By joining EuropaBio, NIBRT looks forward to working with industry leaders and policymakers to shape the future of European biotech, drive sustainable innovation, and strengthen biopharmaceutical manufacturing capabilities across the continent.
Dr. Claire Skentelbery, Director General of EuropaBio commented: "NIBRT is a flagship organisation for EU excellence and their voice will be essential in building the right policy framework through which biotech innovation is delivered through manufacturing. If we want to lead global performance in healthcare, NIBRT is integral to the conversation."
Dr. Fiona Killard-Lynch, Chief Scientific Officer and Director of Research and Innovation at NIBRT added "We are delighted to join EuropaBio at this pivotal moment for European biotechnology. As the biopharma landscape evolves, particularly in areas such as advanced therapeutics, sustainable manufacturing, and digital bioprocessing, we look forward to collaborating with industry leaders across Europe to shape the future of biomanufacturing. Through EuropaBio, we aim to bring Ireland’s expertise and pioneering spirit to the wider European biotech community, ensuring that our sector remains at the forefront of global innovation."
