EV charging infrastructure company appoints Shaun Quirk as COO

London, United Kingdom – July 13, 2021 - Liberty Charge, the joint venture created by Liberty Global and Zouk Capital to roll out on-street electric vehicle charging points in the UK, has appointed Shaun Quirk as COO.

The appointment reflects the recent growth of the Liberty Charge and comes ahead of a period of major activity as on-street EV charging looks set to take off in the UK. It also follows the company’s first major deployment in the UK earlier this year - 20 units in the London borough of Waltham Forest - and ahead of a pipeline of several further sites with a number of Local Authorities.

Shaun’s responsibilities will be to ensure the smooth expansion of Liberty Charge as it rolls-out more charging stations around the UK. This will involve working closely and building relationships with Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and key stakeholders in Local Authorities looking to deploy on street EV chargers.

“This move is a case of the right role, right company and right time,” commented Quirk. “EV as a sector is on the cusp of a major period of growth and central to its successful adoption as a technology will be the role of on-street and public charging. That puts Liberty Charge right at the centre of this movement, which promises to be a huge focus area for the UK economy for years to come.”

Shaun’s career to date has involved major projects in the electric vehicle, construction, utilities and telecoms sectors. He joins Liberty Charge from SSE where he has spent the last six years in a number of roles, most recently as regional director. In this role he was responsible for both the planning and delivery of 1600+ Source London charge points across 22 London Boroughs. Other projects of scale include the Carillion telent joint venture enterprise working with BT Openreach to support the delivery of its Super-Fast Broadband roll out and the design and build of numerous LV and HV networks throughout the South East for Brookfield Utilities independent connection provider, Power On Connections.

Commenting on the appointment, Neil Isaacson, CEO, Liberty Charge, said, “The UK is one of the world’s foremost nations when it comes to addressing climate change and EV adoption is a key element to its strategy. Successfully hitting the UK Governments’ net zero targets will require companies across every segment of sustainability to be in the best position possible and be able to scale effectively, whilst delivering what our customers demand, that’s why we’ve appointed Shaun”

Liberty Charge works in partnership with local authorities to deliver the power and connectivity infrastructure for on street EV charging. Working in residential areas of UK towns and cities, Liberty Charge serves residents who don’t have access to off-street parking or charging facilities, and significantly reduces the burden placed on Local Authorities to find, develop and deploy EV charging points in the right places, and at no cost to them.
