ChargeUp Europe keeps growing - welcoming evway as its newest member

ChargeUp Europe is delighted to announce its newest member, evway by Route220. With evway joining, the Alliance has further expanded its geographic reach to Italy and Southern Europe.
ChargeUp Europe founding members Allego, ChargePoint and EVBox have now been joined by GreenWay, Fastned and evway. The Alliance is going from strength to strength as it works to shape EU policy for EV charging infrastructure, the EV market and the green economic recovery.
Evway by Route220 started in 2014 as the first completely interoperable charge point operator (CPO) and e-mobility service provider (EMSP) in Italy and is now the biggest private independent interoperable CPO and EMSP in the country. Evway acts as a digital platform to enable customer and stakeholder’s engagement, providing trip and tourism relevant information for EV drivers. Since its foundation, the company has been committed to developing an open and collaborative market in Europe.
Evway has also recently started an EU Horizon2020 funded project as the Italian coordinator, with the scope of testing and implementing new charging experiences regarding the Plug and Charge standards.
Commenting on the announcement, Franco Barbieri, co-founder of evway said: “The Alliance is the perfect place for us to benchmark our activities within a group of companies sharing their best practices to promote the growth of electric mobility. As a representative of Southern Europe, we are looking forward to contributing to ChargeUp Europe in pursuing open competition, open protocols and non-discriminatory business practices”.
