Listen to Jani Yates, CEO of Ad Standards Canada, discuss the state of self-regulation and data protection in Canada. Discover how Ad Standards has worked with the government and industry actors to further enhance privacy rights for Canadian citizens and how it can impact everyone else.
Several pieces of legislation have been adopted over the years to protect the rights of Canadian citizens, for instance the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) in 2004 and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) in 2014.
Ad Standards has been closely working with EDAA’s equivalence in Canada, the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (DAAC) since its inception in 2013. Ad Standards reviews all consumer complaints and issues an annual report to determine what can be improved.
