Ahead of its new strategic year, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) announces today a programme that examines the themes and issues that impact the accountancy profession around the world, now and in the future.

Every three months, ACCA will focus on themes that cover four broad areas:
  • the power of digital technology (April to June 2019)
  • the power of connections and partnerships (July to September 2019)
  • the power of ethics, trust and sustainability (October to December 2019)
  • the power of careers, skills and employability (January 2020 to March 2020).
Each theme will be the focal point for ACCA’s professional insights, alongside on-going developments to the ACCA Qualification. Themes will promote ACCA’s thought leadership, continuing ACCA’s commitment to publishing insightful and innovative reports, produced both in-house and in collaboration with employers and strategic partners.

April 2019 will see the launch of the first theme for 2019 – 20, ‘the power of digital’, arguably the biggest factor shaping the future of the profession and the future roles ACCA students and members will perform. ACCA identified digital as one of its seven professional quotients for success, which is included in its soon-to-be published research on machine learning.

Jamie Lyon, interim director of professional insights at ACCA, said: ‘We believe these themes form a sound basis to drive skills, pride and advocacy among our members and students.

‘By looking to the future, we deliver the insights and skills our members need for success in tomorrow’s world and provide a strong foundation for growth. And it’s these insights that guide us to make changes to the ACCA Qualification so that it remains relevant and cutting edge; it also helps us deliver up-to-date and relevant CPD for our members, alongside the advice and guidance from ACCA Careers – our global job board.

‘We look forward to sharing our insights, and engaging our many stakeholders in discussions about what matters to the profession in 2019 and beyond.’
