The European Free Alliance General Assembly 2017

The biggest annual gathering of the European Free Alliance family takes places from the 30th of March till the 1st of April in the Best Western Hotel Katowice, Silesia. The EFA General Assembly 2017 is dedicated to the fight of the Silesians, within the Polish state, to persuade Warsaw that granting them autonomy and the status of a national minority is no longer taboo. The slogan “Autonomia to normalnosc” simply means that what is common practice in most EU Member States cannot and should not be considered unthinkable for Poland.

During the General Assembly, more than 200 delegates, including 6 MEPs, representing 14 governments and 41 EFA member parties and affiliated organizations will debate on other very important issues about the future of Europe, such as the independence referenda in Catalonia and Scotland, the post-Brexit political, financial and social landscape, the refugee crisis and energy sovereignty. An extensive part of the debate will be also dedicated to the EFA Electoral Manifesto for the 2019 European Parliament elections, which are expected to be the most challenging ever.

The press representatives will have the opportunity to attend a press conference on Friday, March 31st (11:00) in the Silver room of the General Assembly venue and the possibility of short interviews with the EFA President, Vice Presidents and MEPs. There will also be live broadcast of the official opening of the General Assembly as well as live updates through the EFA social networks and under the event hashtags #Katowice17 and #Autonomy4Silesia
