The European Banking Federation announces today that its office in Frankfurt, Germany, is open for business. The office will operate as hub and meeting point for representatives of national banking associations from 32 European countries, both inside and outside the eurozone. It will also serve individual member organisations and EBF specialist staff, particularly those working on the Single Rulebook for banking supervision, payments and financial markets.
Since the creation of the EBF in 1960 as the main representative body for the European banking industry the federation has always been based in Brussels to support EU institutions with the construction of a single market for financial services. With the advent of the Banking Union and the additional role of the European Central Bank as central supervisor for all eurozone banks, the EBF and its members are making themselves increasingly available in Frankfurt to exchange views with representatives of the Single Supervisory Mechanism.
