ICT is inextricably linked with our desire for a prosperous and competitive economy. Christophe Leclercq, EurActiv Founder, Initiator of "EU Community" and Chairman of its Advisory Council noted: "We are delighted about the support of such senior advisors as we drive this ambitious initiative forward. This will support the next era in EU policy-making. The balance between public and private sector is important as we address a broad range of user needs. Once the ‘EU Community’ project is implemented, EU stakeholders will have online tools connected to offline events to increase their efficiency.”
Peter Jeavons, Senior Sales Director EMEA, Policy Automation Software, Oracle said: “The challenge is to merge the mountains of dynamic information and static data from the cloud by utilising new technologies. This will push the credible and relevant info to the stakeholders. Ultimately, these efficiencies will translate into deeper stakeholder engagement and an improvement in policy options.”
As a public-private partnership, the “EU Community” project is co-funded by a grant from the European Commission (DG CONNECT) and executed by a consortium of eight organizations. EurActiv recently sourced private funding through a Partnership with Oracle. As the Initiator of the project, EurActiv plans to bring other corporations and/or foundations on board in the form of Strategic Partners. Private funds from these partners will serve to expand the core objectives and contribute to the sustainability of the project.
Fondation EurActiv’s role in the project is to set the research strategy and agenda driven by stakeholders. It will ensure the interactions between user needs, research challenges and functional results.
For its part, EurActiv.com will lead dissemination and roll-out by leveraging its network’s targeted readership.
