Lack of solutions characterise disappointing Danish presidency

There is broad agreement among business leaders, education professionals, governments and the EU institutions that more must be done to raise awareness and improve knowledge about standards and standardization.  This is the main conclusion of a conference on education about standardization that was held in Brussels on 29 June, jointly organised by the European Standards Organisations – CEN, CENELEC and ETSI.

EUROPEAN ROAMING BREAKTHROUGH: VODAFONE OFFERS SIMPLE, WORRY-FREE, INTEGRATED PLAN

Vodafone Group today announced that millions of Vodafone customers travelling within Europe this summer will for the first time benefit from new roaming price plans which combine calls, texts and mobile internet access for a daily payment of €3 or €4.

The new roaming plans enable customers to use their communications services as though they were at home for a small payment on top of their current home market deals.

EU Leaders: decide to invest more in European energy jobs, less in Russian

At the EU summit held today in Brussels EU Leaders are urged by the European Wind Energy Association to:
- Agree on investments in renewable energies, and end fossil fuel subsidies
- Increase EIB capital to fund renewable energy
- Agree on procedures to divert EU funding towards renewable energy projects
- Earmark EU Cohesion and Research funds for renewable energy instead of gas which increases the EU's already high energy import bill
- Agree on a stable legislative framework for renewables up to 2030
