Paradise Papers: S&D Group calls for special committee to investigate new revelations

Brussels, 7 November 2017

The S&D Group is calling for the establishment of a temporary special committee in the European Parliament to address and draw conclusions from the new leaks known as the Paradise Papers. They are also proposing to set up a permanent structure in the European Parliament to monitor the implementation of regulations and follow up on previous recommendations in tax policy after the European elections in 2019.

ACCA celebrates Living Wage Week

Professional body welcomes increase in Living Wage rates announced during Living Wage Week

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) attended a parliamentary reception to celebrate the Living Wage, ahead of Living Wage Week which began yesterday (6 November).

The reception brought together a network of employers, parliamentarians and public figures that all support the voluntary movement for a Living Wage based on the cost of living.

ACCA’s enhanced Ethics and Professional Skills module now live

The latest innovation to ethics at the top level of the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification is now available.
 
The new Ethics and Professional Skills module went live from 31 October 2017, replacing the Professional Ethics module which was available until 30 October 2017.
 
The redesigned module focuses on developing vitally important ethical behaviour and judgement to ensure finance professionals are equipped with the skills needed to support exam success at Strategic Professional level.

Aluminium beverage can recycling at 73%

Aluminium beverage cans already close to the future EU Circular Economy recycling targets.
 
Brussels, 7 November 2017: The overall recycling rate for aluminium beverage cans in Europe (EU 28 + EFTA) increased by 1.6% to a new record level of 72.9% in 2014(1).
 

Towards the Establishment of the "Haiti-Dominican Republican Binational Arbitration Platform"

Port-au-Princ, Haiti, November 6, 2017: The Chamber of Conciliation and Arbitration of Haiti (CCAH) and El Centro de Resolución Alternativa de Controversias (CRC) of the Dominican Republic, signed on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to improve the business relations between both countries. It is envisioned that the MOU will enable greater dialogue and the exchange of mutual assistance offered to their nationals improving the overall business relations of both countries.
