S&Ds deeply regret President Trump’s decision to step back from the commitment to UN global compact on migration

On 3 December, the Trump administration notified the United Nations that the United States will no longer take part in the negotiations for a global compact on migration, claiming that such a compact would undermine its national sovereignty. This follows the US decision to quit UNESCO last month and to pull out of the Paris climate change mitigation accord this summer.

Parliament backs new rules on cash entering and leaving the EU

Today large sums of cash are often used for criminal activities, such as money laundering or terrorism, because cash is easily transferable and very difficult to trace. This is why people carrying over €10,000 in cash when entering or leaving the Union have to declare it and people who send or receive packages with such amounts of cash will also have to disclose the content when controlled.

PES: Centeno the right choice for Eurogroup president

The Party of European Socialists welcomes the election of Mário Centeno as the next President of the Eurogroup.

Single Resolution Board chair is renewed, but not without concerns

The Socialists and Democrats in the economic and monetary affairs committee, today, backed the renewal of Elke König as chair of the Single Resolution Board. However, they have raised concerns regarding some aspects of her management of the board over the last three years.
