Joint FoodDrinkEurope – FDF statement on the progression of Brexit negotiations

Ahead of the upcoming European Council meeting, to be held on 14-15 December, FoodDrinkEurope and the UK Food and Drink Federation would like to welcome the progress, the momentum it creates, and the positive tone that has been achieved in the negotiations that pave the way for Brexit talks to now proceed to stage two. We would encourage members of the European Council to follow the recommendation from the European Commission that there has been “sufficient progress” to now proceed to the next phase of negotiations.

Lighthizer, U.S. Trade Representative, agreed to strengthen trilateral cooperation in the WTO and other forums  in  order to battle  unfair trade.  European Aluminium, the voice of the entire aluminium value chain, welcomes the new commitment.

(Brussels, 11 December 2017) FoodDrinkEurope welcomes the finalisation of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) announced last Friday 8th December. The EU-Japan EPA, which comes with high expectations, both in terms of tariff reductions and removal of non-tariff barriers to trade, should significantly improve the market access conditions for European food and drinks in Japan.

The World Employment Confederation-Europe Elects New Board

Brussels,  December 11 2017The World Employment Confederation-Europe’s General Assembly has elected several new members to the Board, including a new President, Bettina Schaller and a new Vice-President, Maalfrid Brath.

Ms Schaller has served as Vice-President of the World Employment Confederation-Europe since 2015 and as a member of the Global Board and Chair of the European Public Affairs Committee since May 2014. She currently oversees the Group Public Affairs activities of the Adecco Group at global and European level.
