The European Union failed to use its leverage over Ankara

The S&D Group is disappointed by the conclusions of the European Court of Auditors report on Turkey published today, which states that EU funding to Turkey had barely addressed fundamental requirements in the rule of law and governance sectors.  As a result, the EU failed to use its leverage in Ankara.
 
Commenting on the report S&D MEP Kati Piri, the European Parliament rapporteur on Turkey, said:

Brussels, 14 March 2018 – The European Parliament overwhelmingly supported the adoption of the Own Initiative Report by Mr Ujhelyi on Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems.
 
ETRMA would like to add its voice to that of the 633 MEPs that supported the request for the European Commission to publish a legislative initiative to guarantee fair, unrestricted and in real time access to in-vehicle data, before the end of the year.
 

As a part of the Social Fairness Package, the European Commission adopted yesterday their legislative proposal for setting up the European Labour Authority (ELA). Following the presentation, CEEP General Secretary Valeria Ronzitti commented:

Jan Kimpen appointed new COCIIR President

Brussels – 14 March 2018 – At the COCIR General Assembly in Brussels, Joost Leeflang announced that he is standing down from the COCIR Presidency; Jan Kimpen has today been elected as the new COCIR President. Jan joined Philips in 2016 as Chief Medical Officer and is responsible for clinical innovation and strategy, medical affairs and health economics. Previously he was CEO of the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands.
