PES welcomes Udo Bullmann as the new president of the S&D group

The Party of European Socialists welcomes the election of Udo Bullmann as the new president of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament (S&D). The PES is ready to continue strong cooperation with the S&D under his leadership in the run up to the 2019 European elections.

(Brussels, 20 March 2018) Today, Europe’s civil society representing over 300 organisations that work with and for children meet key EU level stakeholders in Brussels to discuss how the EU can ensure better outcomes for children and their families through the post-2020 EU budget. Under the platform of the Opening Doors for Europe’s Children campaign, they bring evidence from the ground on how EU funds have been used in the current Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

S&Ds warn that the increase in anti-vaccine movements poses a threat to public health

The increase of anti-vaccine movements, and vaccine-shortages in some European countries, poses a threat to the health of European citizens. The World Health Organisation (WHO) warns against the alarming return of preventable diseases, such as measles. Over 20,000 Europeans were affected by this disease last year, and 35 died, whereas there were only around 5,000 cases in 2016.

World's first offshore wind farm without subsidies to be built in the Netherlands

BRUSSELS, 19 MARCH 2018 –  The Dutch Government has awarded Vattenfall in a tender to develop the twin Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farms. The two 350 MW wind farms, to be built by 2022, will be the world’s first to be built without public subsidy.
 

Facebook must come to the European Parliament and explain alleged unauthorised data harvesting

Today, S&D MEPs called for representatives from Cambridge Analytica and Facebook to come to the European Parliament to explain allegations that data of over 50 million Facebook users had been harvested without their permission and used for political purposes.

API access launched for AGSI+ and ALSI

Storage and LNG data published by GIE

GIE has launched an API (Application Programming Interface) service on its AGSI+ and ALSI transparency publication platforms.

Using API access, the audience can bypass the AGSI+ and ALSI website and get hold of the data directly and continuously. It enables to extract, filter the data and create any subset as required, without having to download each dataset separately from the website. The API export format is JSON.
