Strong CBE pass rates in ACCA’s first exam session for 2018

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) today announces the pass rates for the March 2018 exam sitting.

Results were generally strong in the latest exam sitting which saw 100,487 students around the world enter. A total of 127,267 exams were taken and 3,430 students completed their final exams to become ACCA affiliates.

European businesses call on the European Commission to increase the attractiveness of the statute of European company

With the European Union wanting to harmonise company taxation and the European Commission planning to present a company law package in the next few weeks, the Alliance for Societas Europaea (ASEP) is calling for the European Parliament and Council to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss improvement of the statute of European company to make it more attractive to businesses.

PES representative detained and expelled from Philippines

The Party of European Socialists protests in the strongest possible terms the unjustified detention and deportation today (Sunday) of one of its senior representatives by the government of the Philippines.
PES deputy secretary general Giacomo Filibeck was detained by border police as he travelled to Cebu to attend the party congress of Akbayan, PES’s sister party in the Philippines and a fellow member of the Progressive Alliance. He was subsequently informed that he had been blacklisted for participating in illegal political activities and deported by plane.

APEAL launches Good Practice Recycling Report

APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging, has announced the launch of a new report: Good Practices on Separate collection, Sorting and Recycling of Steel for Packaging.

APEAL is committed to helping all EU members states achieve the higher recycling targets set out in the EU’s Circular Economy Package (CEP).

EU must act now to save the rule of law in Hungary
