ACCA makes senior appointment to its executive team

Maggie McGhee has been appointed executive director - governance at ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), taking up her position on ACCA’s executive team on Monday 1 October.

The appointment has been made due to the early retirement of Peter Large, who has been executive director - governance since 2008 and who will leave ACCA at the end of September 2018.

“Social democracy in Sweden has resisted the threat of the far right. I warmly congratulate Stefan Löfven for a brave and tough campaign, and a victory,” stated Udo Bullmann, S&D Group leader following yesterday’s general elections in Sweden. 
 
“This being said, the results of the extreme right are a serious warning in a country known for its most advanced social system.
 

S&D VPs in Silicon Valley: US tech companies must do more to allay EU citizens’ privacy concerns

Following a fact-finding mission this week by S&D Group vice-presidents Jeppe Kofod and Tanja Fajon to the United States to meet with executives from US technology firms and government officials, the Group has called for more action to rebuild citizens’ trust following the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Die Löhne in der EU steigen im Zuge der guten Konjunktur nominal wieder stärker. Doch weil gleichzeitig die Inflation von einem extrem niedrigen auf ein normales Niveau zurückgekehrt ist, bleibt davon in etlichen Ländern preisbereinigt nicht viel übrig. 2017 legten die realen Effektivlöhne im EU-Schnitt nur um 0,4 Prozent zu, in neun von 28 EU-Ländern sanken sie sogar.
