The power of hydrogen: Europe’s innovation winners

Hydrogen fuel cell technology is ready and set to power Europe’s sustainable development, it was revealed this evening at a high-profile Awards Ceremony in Brussels, as the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) rewarded its top projects for innovation excellence.

Udo Bullmann: Italy must show responsibility and start a constructive dialogue with the Commission about its budget plans for 2019

Following the European Commission’s decision to take the first step towards sanctioning Italy for its budget plans for 2019, S&D Group leader Udo Bullmann stated:
“The European Commission’s decision on the Italian budgetary plan is caused by the refusal of the Italian government to enter into dialogue with the Commission.

S&Ds continue to fight for the UN migration and refugee compacts

The Polish government has announced that it will withdraw from the UN migration and refugee compacts. It becomes the fifth European member state to do so after Hungary, Bulgaria, Austria and Croatia. Following the announcement, S&D Group president Udo Bullmann said:

The European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee (AFET) today voted on the Recommendation on Academic Freedom in the EU's External Action report, which aims to make academic freedom a specific human rights concern in the EU’s foreign policy.

Horizon Europe: S&Ds lead majority calling for €120 billion for research and innovation in Europe

The Socialists and Democrats led today a vote in the industry, research and energy committee on Europe’s next research and innovation programme for the period 2021-2027, Horizon Europe. The S&Ds called for an ambitious EU budget, of at least €120 billion in 2018 prices, to finance research and innovation and address the challenges European societies and economies are facing.
