The Socialists and Democrats were the driving force behind a new piece of legislation that will allow European citizens with disabilities better access to products and services such as computers, mobile phones or travel ticketing and automatic teller machines, which was voted today in the European Parliament’s plenary.

S&Ds ensure more money for frontline member states, despite opposition from EPP

The European Parliament today approved the creation of a fund of over €10 billion to help member states manage asylum, migration and integration for the period 2021-2027. The S&D Group has ensured that the money will be primarily spent within EU countries, to ensure frontline member states have the resources they need to manage migration in a fair and humane way. This split the centre-right EPP Group.
 

European Parliament approves update to EU’s Visa Information System

The European Parliament today approved updated rules governing the EU’s Visa Information System. This is the EU database that connects border guards at the EU’s external borders with member states' consulates across the world. It provides authorities with key information on applicants for short-stay Schengen visas.
