EBAA Shifts Annual Safety Summit from Physical to Digital

01 December 2021, Brusssels. Due to the increase in COVID-19 cases in Europe, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) today announced the shift of the Annual Safety Summit from a physical, to a virtual Summit on December 13-14th , keeping the original dates.

ChargeUp Europe calls for an ambitious overhaul of EV charging rules under EU buildings legislation

ChargeUp Europe, the voice of European electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector, today called for an ambitious overhaul of EV charging rules under EU buildings legislation. 

Widespread and easy charging options are critical to facilitating the uptake of electromobilty by citizens. Over 75% of EV charging currently takes place at home or at the workplace, but there are significant regulatory and administrative barriers to installing infrastructure in many settings.   

The online world is not a safe space for women - S&Ds call for legislative action at an EU level to combat gender-based cyber violence

With the rise of new technology and social media, more and more women and girls are experiencing harassment, stalking and other kinds of threats whilst online. It is estimated that 1 in 10 women in the EU have been victims of sexual harassment via digital tools since the age of 15.

S&Ds determined to strengthen monitoring mechanism to stop pushbacks at EU borders

In light of recent allegations of pushbacks at the EU’s external borders, the S&D Group will improve a Commission proposal for new EU screening rules by strengthening a fundamental rights mechanism so that it also monitors border surveillance practices and investigates all violations of human rights.
 
As part of broader asylum reform in the Pact on Migration and Asylum, the Commission last year proposed rules for a new screening procedure for people entering the EU irregularly.
 

S&Ds on migration crisis regulation: “The days are over when solidarity is the exception and not the rule”

The S&D Group is laying the groundwork for a solidarity-based response system in the EU’s common and asylum policy when faced with crisis situations. In the draft report of the crisis regulation, LIBE chair and rapporteur Juan Fernando López Aguilar is proposing a new mandatory relocation framework to share responsibility and wants to introduce evacuation programmes to deal with emergency situations like in Belarus and Afghanistan. This proposal would avoid the instrumentalisation of migrants.
