European Social Innovation Competition: The results are in!

After months of anticipation, the European Commission and the European Innovation Council and SME Executive Agency (EISMEA) are pleased to announce the winners of this year’s European Social Innovation Competition: the challenge prize ‘Skills for Tomorrow – Shaping a green and digital future’.

The three winning projects, each of which will receive €50 000, were announced at the European Social Innovation Competition Awards Ceremony, held online on 8 December 2021. This year’s winners are:

New State Aid Guidelines allow technology-specific auctions, endorse Contracts for Difference to deploy more wind

Today the European Commission published its new EU Guidelines on State Aid for Climate, Environmental Protection and Energy. The new Guidelines allow National Governments to hold technology specific auctions and endorse revenue stabilisation mechanisms notably 2-sided CfDs. These are pre-conditions for the accelerated deployment of wind energy towards climate neutrality.

With today’s adoption by the Council of the European Union, which follows a corresponding plenary vote of the European Parliament last week, both EU legislators recognise the need for a workable transition into the new European regulatory framework for IVD medical tests.

The REGATRACE EU project has launched a digital network to facilitate collaboration on tracking and exchange of renewable gas certificates and boost biomethane trading across Europe. EU leaders have committed to facilitate access to gas infrastructure and markets of renewable gases in the recently published Gas Package. The development of a European renewable gas market is essential to ensure that increasing shares of renewable gases are injected into our gas grids.

Unjustified suspension of anti-dumping duties challenged before European Court

This is the warning of the European Steel Association (EUROFER) on the occasion of the European Council and ahead of the Environment Council of next week.
