EUROFER welcomes the extension of EU anti-dumping measures on imports of ‘GOES’

Following the publication of the European Commission implementing regulation imposing definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of certain grain-oriented flat-rolled products of silicon-electrical steel from China, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the US published on 17/01/2022, the European Steel Association (EUROFER) has issued the following statement:

New technique to convert greenhouse gases into clean energy using photonics

A European consortium is developing a new process that uses sunlight and LEDs to turn carbon dioxide and green hydrogen into clean energy products like methane gas and methanol liquid fuel.

Called 'SPOTLIGHT', the consortium is creating a chemical process as well as a photonics device to convert carbon dioxide and green hydrogen into the chemical fuel methane and carbon monoxide as a starting material for creating methanol liquid fuel.

Scotland awards seabed rights for massive amounts of offshore wind, most of it floating

The Crown Estate Scotland has announced the results of the “ScotWind” seabed tender. They auctioned 8,600 km² of sea space which could host almost 25 GW of offshore wind. 17 projects won. With 15 GW most of the capacity that will now be developed will be floating offshore wind. The system the Scots have used for awarding seabed leases ensures the new offshore wind farms will be delivered at the lowest cost for consumers and taxpayers.

December 2021 pass rates for ACCA exam sitting announced

Pass rates have been announced to ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) students who sat their exams in December 2021.

119,688 entered for the December sitting, which saw 145,692 exams completed. A total of 4,288 students completed their final exams to become ACCA Affiliates. In the face of the continued pandemic, ACCA also offered remotely invigilated exams to 9,809 students across numerous jurisdictions.

S&Ds mourn David Sassoli, and continue with the negotiations to elect the Parliament’s president for the second half of the mandate

Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament mourn the passing away of EP president, David Sassoli. S&D leader Iratxe García today invited everyone in the house to hold a minute of silence in front of the Parliament at 13:00 to pay tribute to Sassoli.

The S&Ds will continue with the negotiations to decide on their vote for the president of the second half of the mandate, which will take place next week in Strasbourg.
