The Socialists and Democrats are sounding the alarm over the rapidly deteriorating political crisis in Serbia, calling out the European People’s Party (EPP) for its complicit silence and persistent appeasement of their political family member, Serbia’s strongman Aleksandar Vučić.

 Frankfurt/Brussels, 9 September 2025 – The European Parliament is about to vote on simplifying the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). VDMA Executive Director Thilo Brodtmann comments:

Frankfurt/Brussels, 4. September, 2025 – In a letter to the European Commission and German Federal Minister of Agriculture, the VDMA warns urgently of the consequences of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The regulation, which is to apply to large companies from the end of 2025 and to smaller companies from mid-2026, requires the complete traceability of products such as wood, rubber, and leather back to their plot of origin.

Frankfurt/Brussels, 3 September 2025 – Commenting on the European Commission's proposal to sign Free Trade Agreements with Mexico and the Mercosur countries, Oliver Richtberg, Head of Foreign Trade at VDMA, said:

"The European Union is finally making progress on the Mercosur agreement. The decision to treat the trade section separately is particularly helpful. Splitting will enable faster implementation – a win for our industry. Now it's up to the EU-Council and Parliament."
