At a joint voting session today, the Environment and Economic and monetary affairs committees in the European Parliament voted in favour of a resolution that objects to the EU Commission’s Taxonomy Complementary Delegated Act. MEPs thereby stated their rejection of the Commission proposal.

The S&D Group in the European Parliament has today heavily criticised the unilateral action proposed by the UK government to override the Northern Ireland Protocol.

The UK Government wants to give its Ministers unilateral powers to set post-Brexit rules governing trade between Great Britain and Northern Ireland, seeking to establish a new system for checks on goods entering Northern Ireland from Great Britain and a so-called dual regime for regulatory standards.

Helmut Scholz, handelspolitischer Sprecher von DIE LINKE im Europäischen Parlament, erklärt zur heutigen Abstimmung des EP über ein neues Instrument für ein Verbot von Produkten aus Zwangsarbeit:

„Was haben ein Auto, ein T-Shirt, ein Computer und eine Banane gemeinsam? Sie alle dürften Spuren von Zwangsarbeit aufweisen. Das Leid der Menschen verbirgt sich in der Undurchsichtigkeit globaler Lieferketten.“

At their meeting in Luxembourg today, EU home ministers agreed on a solidarity declaration that includes a voluntary distribution mechanism for refugees, especially for sea rescue cases, and negotiating positions for the screening and Eurodac regulations.
