Thanks to the S&D Group’s relentless efforts, the European Parliament is set to approve tomorrow the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). This will come across as a crucial tool to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 - compared to 1990 levels - as set out in the Fit for 55 package, in compliance with the European Climate Law’s aim of making Europe the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050.

This will be a crucial tool to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 - compared to 1990 levels - as set out in the Fit for 55 package, in line with the European Climate Law’s aim of making Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
