Health systems face tremendous challenges across Europe. The management of COVID-19, war in Ukraine and high inflation rates are challenging supply chains for the most essential medicines.

Off patent medicines account for 70% of those dispensed in Europe, treating severe conditions such as cancer, auto-immune conditions, respiratory diseases, and cardiovascular disease. These medicines are clearly part of the solution for resilient health systems.

In order to improve the access of investigating authorities to electronic evidence, the Commission presented EU rules on cross-border issuing and securing of electronic evidence in 2018. After a year and a half of intense negotiations, on Tuesday the EU Parliament and Council have found a political agreement on the core elements of the framework for collecting and securing the so-called e-evidence.

Today the leader of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Iratxe García MEP, met Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand. They discussed the global crisis created by the Russian attack against Ukraine and how global cooperation between democracies is needed to protect a global order based on international law and human rights.
