The new edition of the System Development map, illustrating the latest European gas infrastructure and capacities, was developed by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) and Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE).

EU wind installations up by a third despite challenging year for supply chain

The EU installed 15 gigawatts (GW) of new wind farms in 2022. That’s one third more than 2021. This increase in new installations is an encouraging result given the overlapping challenges the industry faced in 2022.  And the 15 GW installed are an important contribution to strengthening Europe’s energy security ahead of next winter. But Europe must continue to simplify permitting and invest heavily in its wind energy supply chain to deliver its energy and climate targets.

We call on Turkish authorities to stop the crackdown on the opposition party, HDP, ahead of the elections

The Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament condemn the latest crackdown on the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), reacting to yesterday’s news that Turkey’s chief prosecutor submitted his final case to the Constitutional Court to shut down this opposition party. Already last week the court froze the HDP’s access to a bank account through which it received state funding.

S&Ds: We will miss David Sassoli forever but his legacy of being a true European is strong in our hearts and commitments

Today, one year after his departure, in a solemn commemoration, the Socialists and Democrats remembered and paid tribute to the late President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, who passed away when he was in office, on 11 January 2022, aged 65. His premature death spurred deep emotions among the whole European family and the international community.

Yara is speeding up the hydrogen economy in Germany

Yara International plans to modify its ammonia terminals in Germany and will enable handling of up to 3 million tons of ammonia. This equates to roughly 530.000 tons of hydrogen and will help speed up the hydrogen economy in Germany.
