FIA Eurocouncil outlines expectations of the Swedish EU Presidency

The SwedishPresidency, which was launched yesterday identifies the following priorities in the field of transport: the EU’s future transport policy framework after 2010, efficient freight transport logistics and ITS (intelligent transport technologies). Each of these policy priorities should contribute to a better mobility in Europe and so to increased welfare.

Effective today, Hans Regenauer assumes the Presidency of the Association of the European Self-Medication Industry (AESGP). Mr Regenauer is the Worldwide Head of Consumer Care at Boehringer Ingelheim and past Chairman of the Wold Self-Medication Industry (WSMI), the umbrella organisation of manufacturers of self-care products on a global level.

Brussels, 30June 2009: European household appliance manufacturers have developed and agreed on a fast and efficient programme to verify the correctness of the energy labels of each others’ products. The programme is named Bilateral Verification Procedure (BVP).

FIA Concerned by European Commission Approach to Mega Trucks

The European Commission has published last week a reviewed version of the study undertaken by its Joint Research Centre examining the opportunities of modifying the Directive 96/53/EC defining the maximum authorised dimensions and weights of lorries in international traffic. The study considers, in particular, the introduction of vehicle combinations potentially measuring up to 25.25 meters and weighing up to 60 tonnes (so-called “giga liners” or “mega trucks”) .
