€34 million is available to fund new projects

The European commission recently launched a joint call concerning excellence in marine and maritime research, and in particular, an improved integration between all the relevant scientific disciplines needed to address complex sea-related issues in the framework of the EU maritime policy.

The objective of the call is to build the knowledge base for a sus¬tainable growth of sea-based activities. It will do this in two ways:

1. FP7- ENERGY- 2010-2: Deadline 4 March 2010 - Budget € 126,4 million

BRUSSELS, Belgium – 20 August 2009

COST will officially launch its reciprocal agreement with South Africa at a conference at the Innovation Hub in Pretoria on Tuesday 8 September 2009. The event is hosted by ESASTAP - the European South African Science and Technology Advancement Programme and runs in parallel to the second South African - European Union Summit.

South Africa is the latest country to have signed a reciprocal agreement with the COST Office to increase international cooperation between scientists.
