Threat of Communicable Diseases to Become Significantly Worse in the Future

The threat of communicable diseases will become even worse in the near future. At the European Health Forum Gastein, the European Union’s leading health policy congress for experts and decision-makers, experts stressed that there are a number of risk factors which contribute to a growing risk of the spread of communicable diseases into Europe, namely into the European Union.

In an innovative new communications initiative, the European Copper Institute has released a dynamic, new three-stage campaign, aimed at revitalising public awareness of the benefits delivered to the world by copper. The simple, but carefully constructed project is designed to spread ‘virally’ around the Internet and appeal to all levels of understanding. It features a teaser video, web and printed formats. In recent years, copper has dominated the news with its high and volatile price.

Fondation EurActiv announces national award winners

Pan-European laureates to be unveiled on 12 November

More than 110 individuals, organisations and movements were nominated in 11 languages for the EurActiv Awards for Debating Europe Nationally before the nominations closed on September 15.

The awards’ national Juries have now selected three winners for each EurActiv language portal.

The “European Health Award” presented this year at the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) goes to the “European Patient Assessment” (EPA) project. EPA is designed to improve the exchange of knowledge and experience by practical physicians in the area of primary care. Cross-border healthcare initiatives are distinguished every year with the European Health Award.

Recycling Innovation Recognised by HRH Prince Laurent of Belgium at European Paper Recycling Awards

The European Recovered Paper Council recognised the outstanding work being done to promote paper recycling last night when HRH Prince Laurent of Belgium presented its Second Annual European Paper Recycling Awards at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The event hosted by Jorgo Chatzimarkarkis MEP saw two winners receive their prize and those highly commended receive a certificate of recognition from Prince Laurent and the European Parliament’s Environment Committee President, Jo Leinen MEP. The winners were:
