ELECTROLUX, ENEL, INDESIT AND TELECOM ITALIA: "ENERGY@HOME", INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT TAKES OFF

Electrolux, Enel, Indesit and Telecom Italia signed an agreement to test an innovative system in which "smart" appliances optimize home energy consumption.

The system provides for direct monitoring of power consumption on the user’s pc, cell phone or on the display of the appliance, downloading customised programmes to manage an ecoefficient "home system".

ENEL GREEN POWER SIGNS AGREEMENT FOR THE ACQUISITION OF ADDITIONAL RENEWABLES OPERATIONS IN GREECE

• Following this acquisition, Enel Green Power’s installed capacity in Greece will exceed 133 MW from the current 127 MW

• The agreement entitles Enel to exercise an option for the acquisition of a wind pipeline of approximately 280 MW.

Athens, October 23rd, 2009 – Today, Enel Green Power signed an agreement for the acquisition of two subsidiaries of the Domiki Crete and ATESE Groups (hereinafter: “the Groups”) in Greece, namely:

Over 95% of end of life tyres are successfully treated

Brussels, 9th November 2009 – In 2008, more than 95% of end of life tyres entered the recycling and recovery routes. For nearly 15 years, the volumes of end of life tyres benefiting from ecological treatment have followed an unstopped increase of +57% in 2008 compared to 1994 and a steady yearly increase of 4%. Such unprecedented result demonstrates the strategy deployed by the European tyre manufacturers within ETRMA to anticipate the regulatory, environmental and economic challenges imposed to Member States by the EU landfill ban is highly efficient.

Geneva - The International Road Transport Union’s (IRU) General Assembly, representing truck, bus, coach and taxi operators in 74 countries on the 5 continents, today unanimously adopted the IRU “30-by-30” Resolution, a voluntary road transport industry commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030.

COGECA MEETS WITH CANDIDATE COUNTRIES TO DEBATE IMPLICATIONS OF EU ENLARGEMENT

In preparation for further EU enlargement, Cogeca met in Slovenia today with representatives of cooperative organisations and the Ministries of Agriculture from the candidate countries to debate the implications of accession for the agricultural sector for these countries when they join the EU.
