ECTA looks to new Commission to reinvigorate the single market and strengthen its commitment to competition during the next five years

Brussels, 24 November 2009; As the Telecoms package is approved today in Strasbourg the European Competitive Telecoms Association (ECTA) looks to the newly appointed Commission to reinvigorate the single market for competition and promote a level playing field across the EU27.

CIAA welcomes EU harmonisation in relation to food information. We strongly believe that
harmonisation at the EU level is the only means to guarantee the Single Market and the free movement of goods whilst protecting the legitimate interests of producers and
enabling consumers to make informed choices.

Today the European Parliament voted on a package of reports on European Police Office (Europol) and one on the European Crime Prevention Network (EUCPN) rejecting the Council proposals taking into account the imminent entry into force of the Treaty of Lisbon and stressing the overall support and development of both entities.

Sophie In't Veld MEP (D66, NL), rapporteur of the implementing rules governing Europol said:

An interactive seminar to showcase what initiatives CEN and CENELEC have taken in terms of strengthening the involvement of SMEs in the standardization process, took place in Brussels last week.

CEEP certainly welcomes the Commission’s willingness to act and to propose measures to relieve the pressures on the public finances in times of crisis. Many of these, especially the financial incentives from the EU side can really contribute to the success.
