Climate Change Conference: CEEP calls for a binding agreement

On the eve of the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Ralf Resch, General Secretary
of CEEP, conveys the request of CEEP members for a worldwide binding agreement on

Climate Express train to Copenhagen shows way to a greener future for transport

On 5 December, the railway sector will demonstrate that rail is part of the solution in the fight against climate change.  More than 400 business leaders, politicians, environmental activists and journalists will travel together onboard the carbon neutral “Climate Express” train from Brussels to Copenhagen . The special train will support the railways’ call to make transport more sustainable. Transport is responsible for around one-quarter of greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union - a figure which continues to rise each year.

ON THE WAY TO COPENHAGEN: PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A SOLUTION TO CLIMATE CHANGE

The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) joins the Climate Express train organised by the International Union of Railways (UIC) from Brussels to Copenhagen today to stress the importance of taking transport into account in the UN COP 15 and to recognise the positive impact of public transport on climate change.

Dieter Zetsche elected 2010 ACEA President

Brussels,  4  December  2009  -  The  Board  of  Directors  of  ACEA, the
Brussels-based   European   Automobile  Manufacturers’  Association,  has
elected  Dieter Zetsche as its new President. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of
the  Board  of  Daimler  AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars Division, will
take  over  from  Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO of Renault, on 1 January
2010.

(Brussels, 3, December 2009)  EU food and drink manufacturers today welcomed the publication of the nationwide survey by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) which provides an insight into consumers’ understanding and views of food labelling on the Irish market.
