BirdLife evaluates environmental progress achieved by the Swedish Presidency – 5 out of 10 points.

Brussels, 18 December 2009 – Today BirdLife International [1] presented its evaluation of the environmental performance of the Swedish EU Presidency, which will terminate at the end of December, and will pass the baton to Spain.

The IRU Road Transport Indices, a benchmark in GDP growth, new truck registration and road transport volumes now in 51 countries, forecast slight economic recovery at global level.

Geneva - The IRU has expanded the geographical coverage of its Road Transport Indices to 51 economies* including OECD states, as well as the EU, Balkan, BRIC and TRACECA countries. 

The IRU Indices provide historic data on GDP, road freight transport volumes and new vehicle registrations from 2005 onwards, while providing a one year forecast.

Further to its position paper of 23 February 2009, Orgalime supports the logical alignment of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC with the New Legislative Framework (NLF). 

Orgalime welcomes the opportunity to comment on the document presented during the LVD Working Party meeting of 9 March 2009 with regard to the alignment of the LVD with the NLF.
